Primary responsibility is the documentation, design and inventory management of the Regional and Metro Fiber Network, Commercial Network and Customer Services within the OSS inventory management tool Granite. The Network Designer works closely with Planning and Design, Engineering and RNOC teams to ensure the Core to Edge Network and customer Services are documented accurately, completely and kept current through the change management process to enable accurate troubleshooting and network maintenance. Document all Commercial Services Network and Customer elements and design in the designated design database of record Granite. Document all Regional Transport Network, Metro Optical Network, Video, and Edge Network designs are documented in the designated design database of record Granite. Process includes development utilizing and researching necessary requirements and design elements within various systems (example; Sales Force, INC, SAM, STORM, Big Brother CTM, Remedy, MARS, Sharepoint, CLONES, Granite and Web Xng.) in order to design the circuits appropriately. Knowledge of these systems and what they do is a key part of the process. Maintain the sites objects, network equipment, Network, Paths and segments and service path designs to 99% of accuracy. Time Warner Cable standards are to be followed in all areas of the database, making sure Syntax, Segments, and Paths are all correct and up to standard.  Ensuring all circuits in the network is accounted for. (Xpercom) and Web Xng, OMP / Autoplex Control & Display screen's, for growth and REMEDY (Action request system) for older services. Also review the Titan 5500, 532L, Tellabs MetroWatch, and Lucent DACS for T1 cross-connect views, Verizon’s CSG for Trunk Group Tandem terminations and local access ordering and analysis of DS1 and DS3 Facilities. Responsibilities also included the update and correctness of Trunk Group paths in Xng. when and if needed.

Responsibilities included building and augmenting Inter-Machine Switch Trunks on the 5ESS / ECP, installation, testing, and establishing service in the Switches, utilizing Trunk Line Work Station, Recent Change views, Granites Xpercom and Xperworx, Autoplex Control & Display screen, Titan 5500 Facility OMP shell for T1 cross-connect and changes, and building T3’3, using TTC’s T-bird for straight away and loop-around testing, working off of Xpercom engineering work-orders, to provision trunks and close the orders out.

 

 

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING                     1997 - 2002

Responsibilities included senior operations engineer, systems engineering, product planning, and implementation, including on-site support, technical Marketing and Sales support in connection with the sales of Circuit to Packet, IP, VoIP utilizing Lucent’s OSS portfolio. Contributed in the design, engineering, and testing of various Operational Support Systems created for Lucent’s Customer base and the associated sub-systems for Voice, DATA, IP, ATM, Network Inventory, and Access (ASR/LSR). Working with sales, evaluated and applied appropriate technology based solutions for varied customer needs and requirements. Participated in the cost estimating and bid proposal process. I supported Sales and Project Management Staff from a technical perspective, in assisting these departments, in the sale and implementation of designed solutions. Major contributor to the design and implementation of an Access Service Request/Local Service Request Operational System for Verizon's GNI enterprise, enabling the ordering/receiving of Access Service requests

•Consulted in country for Embratel (Brazil's national telephone company) on system design for process integration of service order provisioning.  Directed the processing of millions of service orders annually, resulting in a 25% improvement in productivity.

•Consulted in country for Bezeq, (Israel's primary telecommunications enterprise), effectively gaining buy-in to adopt a multi-million dollar operations support system.  System allowed 35% improved upfront auto-flow of service orders and billing processes.

 

 

SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER – NORTHEAST 1996 - 1997

Responsible for the Northeast Regional Operations Switch sites utilizing 5ESS-11, DACS IV-2000, TITAN5500, SCL-2000, PCOM 38Ghz Radio, and Microwave Radio and full Power Plant support functionality. Other responsibilities included; Central Office supportive equipment HVAC, Generator Backup, full Power plant with Batteries, Rectifiers, and Inverters. 

•Implemented a process between operation and engineering that reduced the error rate in the inventory database by 45% and improved work flows by as much as 25% eradicating re-do work, Managing a team of nine (9) engineers.

 

 

SENIOR OPERATIONS/ENGINEERING CONSULTANT    1995 - 1996

Operations and Engineering consultant on Lucent Technologies TEP6/GSM Saudi Arabian Telecommunication project, working in the United States, Europe, and Saudi Arabia. Creation and implementation of Methods and Procedures on Service provisioning and network management (fault & performance) for the Network Operation Center in Saudi Arabia, which was responsible for the SDH Ring infrastructure, Special Services, and Switched Network Services both domestic and international. Worked with two engineers who reported to me, one doing the process and the other doing satellite.

Managed the Provisioning, Engineering, and Sales Support work center (seventeen engineers). Responsible for the training and daily activities of  direct reports, working local access orders for both Business and residential customers utilizing T1, Integrated Digital Loop Carrier, and UN-bundled Loops. Responsible for the development and negotiated strategy of interconnection and implementation of UN-bundled Loops, Test and Order processes between MFS INTELENET and the Regional Bell Operating Companies.

Responsibilities include identifying, research, compare, select, test, recommend, and provide all necessary implementation support for new transmission technologies and alternatives (examples: Fiber Optic Central Office equipment (OC3, OC12, OC48), Testing, Wiring, and Equipment Provisioning of the Lucent DACS I and IV and the TELLABS TITAN 5500, Light-Guide Terminal systems, and BITS Clock timing supplies for the 5ESS, DACS, Fiber Optic terminal equipment to enhance present and future network capacity, reliability and reduce operational cost, managing three engineers.

 

Senior Engineer

Responsibilities include the procurement, central office engineering, design, implementation, maintenance, and management of all Digital Cross-connect Systems (DCS) within Teleports network. Planned, ordered, designed, and engineered as well the Field-testing of the (DACS) interconnections of equipment and facilities to the 5ESS switch. The build and testing of the facilities at the DS0, DS1 and DS3 levels in support of the DCS machines in the network. Support Sales, Project Management and Marketing Staff from a technical perspective, in order to assist these departments in the creation, pricing, and sale of new service offerings.

 

 

CONSULTANT/CONTRACTOR   1991 - 1992

AT&T INTERNATIONAL WORLD BILLING, MORRISTOWN, NJ

 

Responsibilities included focusing on the needs of AT&T's international business partners and customers for the delivery of technical consultation support for the analysis and resolution of network related problems and providing network operational design improvement recommendations. The object of this consultative effort was to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the client's Switched Message billing capabilities and to implement a collection system by providing attached processors to each switch and building a Data Network to collect from each switch the AMA information for processing at the clients billing department. Planned, scheduled, and performed testing of the systems and process’s for the billing collections and customer billing records as an output of the collection process. Managed a multinational team of fourteen (14) engineers from the Philippine’s and USA.

Designs were accepted and implemented within the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Network.

 

 

STAFF MANAGER - NETWORK ENGINEERING 1964 - 1991

Responsibilities included the creation of software design and system Architecture for access capacity of ASR's. Provided the Methods and Procedures for the Access Service Request process for ordering of service ASR's between inter-exchange carriers and ILEC's.  Deliberated with, ILEC's and Bell-Core to complete the Access Service Request project transition to Bell-Core on schedule.  This information became the documentation that the Industries Open Billing Forum would use for over a decade.  Developed the code set still used today for the Network Interfacing between IXC's and the ILEC's. Performed extensive testing of the ASR System and the processes in which it was used between the LEC’s and the IXC’s. I managed sixty engineers and consultants who provided the working requirements and day to day processes for Access Service Request’s.
